Happy Birthday, Richer!
|On October 28, Richer Elementary celebrated its 50th birthday with a day of fun, festivities and friendship. The day started with an all-school assembly, after which faculty, staff and students walked outside and encircled the school for a school hug, a balloon release, and the singing of "Happy Birthday" to their school.
At 1:00, a formal birthday ceremony was held in the school courtyard. It included guest speakers, a state proclamation, the burying of a time capsule, and the planting of a pear tree. Following the ceremony, community readers visited classrooms and read to Richer students.
The celebration continued into the evening with a communitywide party for Richer families. Popcorn, cotton candy, tattoos, message writing, backpack and water bottle give-aways, pizza, and a raffle highlighted the night for the hundreds of families in attendance.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Classic Pizza I for donating the pizza to feed our 900 birthday party dinner guests!
