Internet Essentials by Comcast
xxx
Dear Marlborough families,

Marlborough Public Schools is rapidly moving toward a digital learning environment that embraces a 1:1 technology initiative grades 5-12. In other words, each student grades 5-12 will have a district-owned Chromebook or laptop for use both in and out of school.

We believe this type of learning environment is imperative to prepare our students to be college and career ready upon graduation. We also understand that hand in hand with this initiative goes the need for access to the Internet not only while in school, but after school hours as well. Homework, collaboration, research and communication are becoming increasingly – and sometimes predominantly – dependent on reliable access the Web.

We also understand that the cost of such Internet access can be prohibitive for many of our families. So, we want to make sure you know about a program provided by Comcast called Internet Essentials.

If you have at least one child eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program for free or reduced lunch benefits, your family may qualify for fast, affordable home Internet service for the school year. Internet Essentials costs just $9.95 per month (plus tax). For participating families, there are no price increases, no activation fees, and no equipment rental fees.

In addition, when you qualify for the Internet Essentials program, you also would qualify to buy a low-cost computer for just $149.99 (plus tax), plus receive free Internet training — online, in print and/or in person.

If you think the Internet Essentials program might be right for your family, it’s easy to get started. See the translated fliers below, or visit InternetEssentials.com to learn more and see if you qualify. Or, you can call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376) to enroll and get connected.

Again, we want to make sure that our students have access to online learning, and we are excited to partner with Comcast and get the word out about programs like Internet Essentials that may be helpful to your family.

Sincerely,
Interim Superintendent Maureen Greulich
